Orgamites is an Organ donation campaign that helps kids understand their body better and address the topic with optimism. It contains videos, campaigns, games, events, books and toys.
In most countries across the world, organ donation and health education are either not mandatory or not included in primary and elementary schools.
It’s our mission to change this! Why?
Despite living in an era of unprecedented progress, children’s health outcomes are regressing. While education standards have risen and children’s rights are widely enshrined, kids face new health challenges. Issues range from a shortage of child organ donors to rising chronic diseases, nutritional deficiencies, and epidemic levels of anxiety and depression.
Despite the prevailing lack of awareness, there is a dire shortage of life-saving organs, especially for children. In fact, children tend to wait two-and-a-half times longer than adults. Yet, time and time again, it has been proven that one of the biggest deciding factors between those who donate and those who do not comes down to whether they’ve simply talked about organ donation with their loved ones (even just once) before they (or their loved one) pass on. The earlier these conversations happen within families, the better. We also know parents are far more willing to participate in these conversations when they are first raised by their children. With this in mind, empowering educators to further empower their students to know and talk about organ donation has the potential to capture a considerably larger and influential audience and make an unprecedented impact.
The campaign was launched in the U.K. Ireland, Canada and Greece.
We’ve created the biggest armory of resources, videos, activations, campaigns, events and mainstream products in order to create a world where organ donation is the norm.
Instead of organ donation being an unspoken, heavy topic to broach amongst families it becomes a relatable matter, thereby increasing the amount of organs donated and increasing the number of subsequent lives saved for this generation and the next.
The Orgamites are on a mission to inspire and equip more people everywhere to talk more about organ donation, take better care of their health, each other and the world.
Created in collaboration with teachers and healthcare professionals, the Mighty Education Programme offers a wide range of educational tools and resources, centred around a series of toolkits designed to complement the formal curriculum.
These toolkits include ready-to-go lesson plans, class activities, and take-home resources. Students learn to understand and appreciate the human body and organ donation, the importance of healthy daily habits, kindness and community-mindedness, mental health and neurodiversity, and outdoor exploration and environmental stewardship.
Additionally, initiatives aimed at promoting organ and bone marrow donation education are included. These comprehensive toolkits aim to foster healthier, kinder, and more informed students
