The climate crisis is one of the biggest issues that humanity faces in the 21rst century. It is known that increasing carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is the main cause of this problem, generated in part by excessive deforestation.
ONU REDD is the United Nations Program for the Reduction of Carbon Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation. Along with the Ministry of Environment of Argentina, they made a documentary to raise awareness about these issues that affect native forests of this country and show the fundamental role they have in socio-environmental development.
In the project, we made a series of animated pieces to explain, in an educational way, the relationship between forests, carbon emissions, and global warming.
The message was made in a simple way in order for the piece to be clear and educational. We used a graphic system and we made models which only had iconic elements that referenced the story, without components that would be perceived as distracting. The use of color was utilized as a semantic aspect.
In addition, we developed a script with colloquial language for the voiceover, which accompanies the images and which explains the functioning of the atmosphere from general to particular.
This entire format resulted in a replicable, pedagogical and attractive piece that has inspired a series which is currently in development.
