In a biological way, we are not prepared to think about the death of our children. This makes child organ donation a topic that is hardly discussed among adults. Faced with the imminent death of a child, people who must make this decision lack the prior instance of reflection. This results in the loss of many opportunities to save lives.
Awsomenova is an non-profit organization that works on this issue and throughout the years has understood the complexity of trying to make adults talk about this.
This is why they decided to focus on conducting their message to children instead and letting them be the ones to reflect on the issue with adults. For this project, we were asked to create a series of animations with children’s characters that –in a friendly, educational, and entertaining way– talked about child organ donation and generated a new way of imagining it.
We developed 8 characters that correspond to 8 transplantable organs. Through them we created different types of products, such as videos, postcards, school objects, toys, stickers, pins, and more. We looked for the children’s empathy with the characters so that they can become a part of their daily lives, thereby having a different connection with organ donation.
We turned to the use of nice, saturated and loud colors to draw the children’s attention, and we complemented them with organic morphologies and anthropomorphic performances. Finally, the characters were made in 3D and 2D to place them in a digital world, in this way adding more fantasy to the adventures of this group of friends.
The final result can be found on the website developed by Awsomenova. In the meantime, we are making other supplementary applications to the campaign and working on expanding it to other countries.
