Animated campaign for Fund.ar explaining the difficulties of implementing a Wetlands Preservation Law in Argentina.
Wetlands are very diverse ecosystems including rivers, swamps, salt flats and glaciers. These ecosystems fulfill a large number of socio-environmental roles, and yet there is no legislation that protects them.
The extreme diversity of activities and landscapes makes it difficult to regulate with one simple law.
Fund.ar developed a detailed report about Wetlands protection policies and asked to come up with a short and engaging animated version to promote their research.
Our challenge was to let the complexity of the matter be a part of the short story and to explain it in a simple way.
When making animated campaigns for a wide audience we run the risk of becoming too simplistic if not sustained by other powerful actions. Because the papers developed by Fundar were so detailed and relevant this short film worked as an engaging teaser for a powerful campaign.
It was launched on the organization’s social networks and accompanied by a media campaign, thus achieving great reach and resonance.
FUNDAR, is an inspiring and relevant think tank dedicated to the study, research and design of public policies focused on the development of a sustainable and inclusive Argentina.
As wetlands by definition have water, we wanted to work with real water on camera. We used it as the protagonist of this story, embracing its beautiful movements and magic to give life to this piece.
Photography relates to journalism and documentaries, so we developed photographic scale models and this defined the visual style for Wetlands: Photography + real water.
We also combined a diverse collection of animation techniques in order to make it didactic and entertaining.
The voice over and the script have a casual approach to the subject so that normal people can relate to it.
